When we heard word of a Harry Potter inspired styled wedding shoot happening at the end of July, we immediately knew we had to try to get involved. Luckily, Sarah Elizabeth Miller, the amazing photographer who put all of this awesomeness together, was so gracious to let us ‘Slytherin’ and film the wonderful magic!
First of all, if you ever get the chance to work with Sarah, you better jump on it! She is so funny and easygoing. Even though she has yet to add “wedding planner” to her repertoire or title, the way she styled and executed each element of this gorgeous shoot would suggest she’s a total planning pro. Talk about skilled in more ways than one 🙂
From actual floating candles and flying keys, to flower arrangements that might as well have been assembled by Professor Sprout herself, the details that Sarah curated here were the perfect accents to the day’s beautiful and talented models, Sana Yasmeen, Taylor Lauren, and (an actual couple) Hannah & Rodney Yoder. These ladies and gentleman were such good sports for hours of posing–you know how hot and humid Georgia can get in July! But they made sure that each photographer was able to capture amazing shots, even stopping to glance into our video cameras at certain points.
But you know what also made our visuals that much better? All the soft, natural light that streamed into both buildings of this historic, industrial wedding and event space known as The Corner District. As it was our first trip to Ball Ground, Georgia, we didn’t necessarily know what to expect of this venue; as soon as we walked into the bridal prep area, it immediately left a lasting mark on us. And obviously it wasn’t a real life wedding, but suffice to say, we ‘wand’ to go back there ASAP to create a wedding film because we know this location is super conducive to creative filmmaking and photography too. We didn’t even get to fly our drone…that would really have been something else, especially with those epic train tracks across the street! Plus, Ball Ground is so cute and has an amazing small town America feel to it.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously, and loved getting to meet some of the 25+ photographers who were in attendance! It has been so fascinating to see everyone’s different styles and takes from this unique shoot. Not only that, but it feels great knowing we’ve made some new connections and legitimate friends! Now, it’s on to the next one.
