Maya and Lavelle’s wedding at The Venetian Room was nothing short of pure romantic bliss and wintry wedding elegance! Manzanita trees spotlighted by ice-purple accent lights were perfectly contrasted by their color choices. Blush and marsala with ivory and gold accents were a lovely choice to warm up the January evening.
Lavelle’s maroon Ike Behar jacket stood out memorably, especially in the intentionally dim lighting. Meanwhile, Maya’s dress by Milla Nova Bridal featured a gorgeous veil and a removable skirt, which she slipped out of for their sweet first dance during the wedding reception.
Of course, the florals, design, and styling by Leneille Moon of Special Event Factory really helped to set the elegant feel. Leneille’s attention to detail was impeccable for every element of the day!
When we originally toured the venue, we were blown away by the impact of the staircase and the layout of the venue in general. Maya told us they’d get married while standing on the bottom steps of the staircase, so they could be well seen by all during the ceremony. This was so smart as the vows they wrote to each other deserved an audience of their closest family and friends.
Maya teared up as Lavelle mentioned how she taught him the true definition of unconditional love. He spoke that her prayers for him to become a God-fearing man and follower of Jesus had come true, which he was so grateful for. Maya echoed his invocations of God. She reminisced about how when they first began their relationship, she wanted everything to be perfect. But God’s plan and His timing was better than she could have ever imagined. There was not a dry eye in sight as candles burned behind them and they grasped each other’s hands.
Located in the Hurt Building near the Georgia State University Campus, the Venetian Room technically closed to the Atlanta events community on December 31, 2018. However, Maya and Lavelle’s wedding on January 25, 2019, was officially the last wedding held in this premiere (former) event facility. Southern charm certainly met Atlanta chic at this unique downtown venue.
It served as the perfect backdrop to their wedding. With the super tall ceilings, unique square columns, and beautiful French crown molding, it felt like we were filming on a Hollywood set!! Did we mention that having the staircase allowed us to set up a camera right at the top of it? We were able to get a viewpoint we typically are never able to get? This definitely added to the production value of their film. It’s a shame we won’t be able to film here again. However, we’re so glad to have had the opportunity to capture the last wedding there!
